Wholesalers and parallel traders must update their software applications so that they can connect to the national databases in order to perform their tasks in the context of the overall process.
The tasks of wholesalers and parallel traders include, for example
- the risk-based inspection of packs purchased from wholesalers who do not act as a manufacturer's preferred wholesaler
- the decommissioning of packs if they are exported to non-EEA countries
- under certain circumstances, the decommissioning of packs on behalf of persons authorized to dispense
How to register with the NMVS
Wholesalers must request registration for each economically independent site. You will need the following information and documents:
- A copy of the operating license(s) or dispensing license(s) for medications as a PDF file.
- The Swiss company identification number (UID) or the Liechtenstein commercial register number.
For Switzerland, the UID can be searched at https://www.zefix.ch.
For Liechtenstein, you can find the commercial register number at https://www.handelsregister.li. - The address and the Global Location Number (GLN) of the respective location.
For Switzerland and Liechtenstein, you can find the GLN in the partner refdatabase at https://www.refdata.ch
The use of the NMVS system is free of charge.
Steps after registration
1. After registration, you will receive an email with further information to complete the registration.
2. After successful verification of the submitted data the NMVS account will be created and you will receive an activation link to complete the registration.
3. In the NMVS portal you will find instructions for managing your account.
